Wyche Prepares for Expansion with New Office Location in Downtown Greenville
GREENVILLE, SC (February 1, 2021) – Wyche, P.A. has announced its plans to relocate to 200 East Broad Street in downtown Greenville, S.C. in a move designed to accommodate the firm’s growth and to reflect Wyche’s unique approach to serving clients and the community through collaboration and creativity.
The announced move is the latest step of a multi-phased plan to develop property along the Reedy River. The first step occurred in 2016, with Wyche’s decision to sell its home at 44 East Camperdown Way, overlooking Falls Park and the Reedy River, to allow development of a Grand Bohemian Hotel. Wyche knew that the artistically inspired Grand Bohemian would become a landmark, attracting new attention to Greenville and the Reedy River. With that building block in place, Wyche considered additional steps to transform that historic section of downtown Greenville.
As an interim step, Wyche moved next door, to 200 East Camperdown Way, while it evaluated how to combine the goals of providing space for future growth of the firm, developing office space that would continue to attract world-class talent to Greenville, and focusing on making a positive difference for the community.
“200 East Camperdown Way was a natural progression for our firm as it was already a space we used over the years as an extension of our long-time offices at the base of Falls Park,” said Wyche CEO Tally Parham Casey. “Our historical connection to the space has made it a good temporary home for us, but it does not have the room we need for future growth. We have never lost sight of our desire to reimagine Wyche’s home in a way that honors our 100-year history and also positions us for the next 100 years. The space at East Broad Street will allow us to remain in the downtown area, which is so closely linked to Wyche. At the same time, we are excited to be a part of our city’s continued expansion along East Camperdown Way.”
When an exciting proposal for the development of 200 East Camperdown Way came along, Wyche was glad to facilitate it. The new development there will further support the vibrant growth of downtown Greenville, especially to the east of Main Street.
This sale now gives Wyche the opportunity to move to another part of Greenville’s growing downtown, and to place Wyche’s stamp on that area. Wyche will occupy the 4th and 5th floors of 200 East Broad Street. In preparation for its move, Wyche will customize the space to honor the firm’s role in Greenville’s development and to construct areas that foster Wyche’s emphasis on collegiality, collaboration, and finding creative solutions to complex problems. Additionally, Wyche’s office space will be designed to integrate natural elements that illustrate the firm’s connection to conservation efforts, including Tommy Wyche’s work, which has ensured that future generations will enjoy iconic natural areas including Caesar’s Head State Park, Jones Gap State Park and Raven Cliff Falls.
“The opportunity to be a central part of any community for a century is a rare and special gift, but particularly one that has enjoyed as much positive change and success as Greenville. It is a privilege to remain in one core area for such a long time, and our good fortune to secure space just a few blocks away that will honor our history while also accommodating our needs for the future. We’re incredibly grateful that we can continue to be in the heartbeat of the community our firm has known and loved for generations,” said Wyche Shareholder Wallace Lightsey.
Wyche’s focus on 200 East Broad Street as a continuation of the firm’s reputation for involvement in iconic downtown Greenville is strengthened as the law firm heads into its 100th year of practice. Wyche attorneys have played a key role in the development of many of the most significant projects in downtown Greenville and the Upstate, including The Peace Center, RiverPlace, The Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, Bon Secours Wellness Arena, The Hyatt Hotel, and Heritage Green. In addition, Wyche has been recognized for a history of leadership, as well as visionary ideas, in creating an environment in which the arts have flourished in Greenville, receiving the prestigious Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Governor’s Award for the Arts for the firm’s efforts in this regard.
“As we look to the future, our move to 200 East Broad Street is an exciting next step. We are eager to continue to share Wyche’s special connection to our community with our clients, our future colleagues, and our friends, not just nearby, but around the world, who often are first introduced to this amazing city when they visit our offices. We’re excited about making our new location a place that will do justice to a community and firm we are proud to be a part of,” said Rita Bolt Barker, Wyche Shareholder and Chair of Wyche’s Workspace Design Committee.
