Conservation Legends Honored

The State

The May 5th edition of The State recognizes Wyche attorney, Tommy Wyche, in an article entitled “Conservation ‘legends’ honored.”

The article covers a recent awards program held by the S.C. Wildlife Federation, which celebrated its 80th birthday and also recognized 16 conservationists in the state of the same age. The wildlife organization calls its honorees “Legends of Conservation.”

Writer for The State, Sammy Fretwell, writes, “They’re all more than 80 years old and all have spent their lives working, in one way or another, to protect South Carolina’s natural resources. Tommy Wyche saved mountains. Wade Batson taught botany. Evelyn Dabbs studied birds. Edmund and Mary Taylor protected swamps. Lucas Dargan planted trees.”

Those are just a few of the honorees of this first time award. Wildlife Federation Director, Ben Gregg, said, “They are sort of the greatest generation.”

Tommy Wyche was recognized specifically for his efforts in establishing the Jocassee Gorges mountain preserve. Read more about Mr. Wyche and the Wyche firm’s conservation efforts.
