Beginning in 2008, EPA’s RE-Powering America’s Lands Initiative has worked to promote renewable energy development on current and formerly contaminated lands, landfills and mine sites. The Initiative’s Action Plan 2.0 was released in October, with the following goals being set for the next two years: (1) provide technical and programmatic assistance; (2) promote policies and best practices that encourage renewable energy on contaminated lands; and (3) partner with stakeholders and leverage agency efforts.
