GREENVILLE, SC (February 12, 2018) – Wyche attorney Matthew Couvillion has been elected to the SCBIO Board of Directors. SCBIO is South Carolina’s investor-driven public/private economic development organization exclusively focused on building, advancing, and growing the life sciences industry in the state. The Board of Directors is the policy- and strategy-making body of the organization, and meets regularly to receive updates on SCBIO business and objectives, as well as domestic and global initiatives. The Board of Directors includes 22 diverse leaders from business, government, and the non-profit sector.
SCBIO President and CEO Sam Konduros praised the Board and Executive Committee, noting, “With the important work we are undertaking to actively advance life sciences R&D, biotech, med-tech, and digital health industries in South Carolina, we require strong, expert leadership from all across the state, fully integrating the business, education and economic development sectors. Couvillion focuses his practice on transactional matters, with an emphasis on corporate law, tax, and non-profit organizations. He has experience advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, tax matters, and corporate governance. Couvillion received an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. He earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he was the Managing Editor of the South Carolina Journal of International Law and Business. He is a graduate of Auburn University with a B.A. in History.
