The April 10th edition of The Greenville News features an article entitled “Venerable law firm gets makeover: celebration on Tuesday to mark changes, 90 years in Greenville.”
Staff writer for The Greenville News, Angelia Davis, spoke with Wallace Lightsey, chair of the Wyche executive committee, to get his thoughts on the Wyche firm”s 90 years of service in Greenville, as well as its new direction and new era.
“We are a different firm than what we were when I came here (in 1986),” Lightsey said. “We want to take a moment to look back at our history, which we’re very proud of, but also look forward to a future that we feel is very bright and will be prosperous.”
Lightsey also commented on the fact that Wyche has the youngest ever executive committee, with a majority of members below the age of 50. “It’s a very exciting time for us here, and it’s a very exciting time for me personally to see kind of a new generation taking over the mantle of the Wyche firm, continuing with many of the same traditions and values that made the firm a special place but putting kind of a new direction on it in terms of technology, client service and firm management,” Lightsey said.
Davis also spoke with Melinda Davis Lux, who at age 38, is the youngest member of the firm’s executive committee. Melinda commented that she has always felt the firm’s senior leaders have valued the contributions and thoughts of the younger attorneys. Many of the younger attorneys also make up the firm’s new specialty group developed to work with entrepreneurs.
“We know that fostering entrepreneurship is key to having a healthy business environment and Wyche has always served entrepreneurs,” Davis Lux said. “In recent years, though, we put a concentrated effort around that. As a result we’re now able to connect entrepreneurs with resources in Greenville to be able to help them grow and that’s really exciting.”
Davis Lux highlighted that Wyche continues to offer core services, such as business litigation, business advice and counseling, and mergers and acquisitions.
Davis Lux went on to write about the firm’s name change to Wyche, P.A. as of Tuesday, April 12. She highlights that “even with all the changes, a lot at the firm remains the same.” That includes our commitment to the community.
