Earlier this week, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released its annual Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program data for 2013 emissions. From approximately 8,000 sources that represent 50% of the nation’s total emissions, 3.18 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent were reported, which constitutes an increase of 20 million metric tons from the previous year, attributable to an increase in coal use for power generation. Visit the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program webpage for more information, including the agency’s new Facility Level Information on Greenhouse Gases Tool (FLIGHT), which allows users to filter data by facility, industry, location or greenhouse gas.
