The Board of the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control has named Catherine Heigel of Greenville as its choice to head the agency for the next four years. Heigel, who currently works as an attorney with Elliott Davis Decosimo in Greenville, served as president of Duke Energy South Carolina from 2010 to 2012 and as associate general counsel for Duke Energy’s State Regulatory Group from 2006-2010. She is also a former trustee of the South Carolina chapter of the Nature Conservancy. Heigel’s nomination now proceeds to the SC Senate for confirmation.
