Tenenbaum, Tanner honored for leadership

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – University of South Carolina Athletic Director Ray Tanner and former state Superintendent of Education Inez Tenenbaum are being honored for their leadership in South Carolina.

The two are among three South Carolinians being honored on Tuesday in Columbia at the Fifth Annual Dick & Tunky Riley Legacy of Leaders event. The recipients also include Bank of America South Carolina President Kim Wilkerson.

They are being cited for helping families and children through personal foundations, nonprofits and public education.

The awards are sponsored by Leadership South Carolina, the state’s oldest and largest leadership development organization.

Past recipients of the awards include former Gov. Dick Riley, Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley Jr., U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham and Jim “Soni” Sonefeld of the rock band Hootie and the Blowfish.
