GREENVILLE, SC (December 3, 2024) – Wyche, a leading full-service law firm with offices across South Carolina, is pleased to announce Darren Angell has joined the firm. Angell will focus his practice on sports law, working closely with Wyche’s education law, corporate, and employment groups.
Angell has a unique and expansive background, bringing over a decade of experience in the sports industry. He has served on three different NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball coaching staffs in varying roles, represented professional athletes, and has negotiated several complex sports-related transactions. Before joining Wyche, Angell served as Chief of Staff for the Furman University Men’s Basketball program, where he led Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) efforts, in addition to overseeing the business operations of the program. Prior to Furman, Angell served on Josh Schertz’s staff at Indiana State University, helping usher in the NIL era in 2021.

Angell began his legal career in Chicago, Illinois, practicing in the areas of real estate, corporate, finance, and sports law. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law, where he served as President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society. He received his undergraduate degree from Mercyhurst University, where he was a member of the men’s basketball team and served as the program’s student representative to the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
