EPA Extends Comment Period for its Clean Power Plan Proposal

Earlier this week, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that it will extend the comment period for its most recent regulatory effort to cut carbon pollution from existing power plants, the Clean Power Plan proposal.  The proposal aims to cut carbon emissions by 30 percent below 2005 levels.  Stakeholders now have until December 1, 2014 to submit comments.  EPA intends to issue its final rule by June 2015.

If you are interested in learning more about South Carolina’s response to the Clean Power Plan proposal, Chief of Bureau of Air Quality for the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control Myra Reece will speak on the topic in Greenville at CU-ICAR on October 2, 2014 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm.  The event is hosted by the South Carolina Clean Energy Business Alliance and is open to the public, but registration is required.
