GREENVILLE, SC (October 1, 2020) – Wyche is proud to announce that Matthew Richardson has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in North America.
The special induction ceremony took place during the 2020 Virtual National Meeting of the College on Friday, September 25, 2020.
Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only, and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility, and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship.
Matthew has participated in some of the most significant and complex litigation in South Carolina over the past 20 years, including the largest minority owner oppression litigation, the largest public utility rate case, the largest public corruption investigation and prosecution in a generation, statewide redistricting challenges, statewide consumer protection litigation, and a federal constitutional challenge to temporary rate relief after construction was abandoned on a nuclear power plant. Matthew also represents a class of all foster care children in South Carolina for systemic reforms and is lead counsel in a constitutional challenge to the South Carolina Heritage Act in the State Supreme Court’s original jurisdiction. Matthew attended Duke University and the University of South Carolina School of Law. Matthew joined Wyche after clerking for the Honorable Kaye G. Hearn and the Honorable P. Michael Duffy.
Matthew is based in Wyche’s Columbia office.
