Methane Emissions Rule Finalized

Methane emissions from oil and gas wells are the latest target of the Obama administration’s plan to combat climate change.  A final rule on these emissions was issued yesterday, and it will require oil and gas companies to curb emissions from new, modified and reconstructed wells and storage tanks but not older wells and tanks.  The goal is a reduction of methane emissions from the oil and gas industry by between 40 and 45 percent from 2012 levels by 2025.
