GREENVILLE, SC – Tommy Wyche will be the 2013 Green Day Honoree at the Greenville Drive game on August 6th at Fluor Field. Mr. Wyche is being honored for his dedication to conservation efforts in the Upstate and his commitment to revitalizing the City of Greenville. The Greenville Drive will celebrate Mr. Wyche’s impact on Greenville by highlighting his many contributions to the City with a special 2013 Green Day tribute during Tuesday’s game.
Mr. Wyche is regarded as one of Greenville’s most influential leaders. He has been instrumental in the development of Greenville Commons, the revitalization of Greenville’s Main Street, and the landmark foot bridge across the Reedy River. He has also served the Greenville community by taking key roles in organizations such as the Greenville Arts Festival, YMCA, Greenville Little Theater, Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce, the Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities, and many others.
Mr. Wyche has also been crucial in land conservation efforts in the Upstate, including the protection of the “Mountain Bridge” in northern Greenville County, the creation of Jones Gap State Park, and the acquisition of Jocassee Gorges by the State of South Carolina. For these accomplishments and others, Mr. Wyche has been recognized both regionally and nationally, receiving honors such as the South Carolina Order of the Palmetto, the American Bar Association Award for Excellence in Environmental and Resources Stewardship, the Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Lifetime Achievement Award from the South Carolina Arts Commission, and the Nature Conservancy Oak Leaf Award.
Mr. Wyche has practiced law with Wyche, P.A. for more than 60 years, practicing in areas ranging from corporate to environmental to tax law. He is also is an accomplished pianist, a state tennis champion at every age level into his seventies, an avid skier, and a noted photographer who has published six books of nature photography.
